<www.taihoandjihae.com>

How it began...

Tai Ho and Jihae first met at the orientation day for their Internal Medicine Residency Program at SUNY Downstate. They immediately became close friends to hang out with other collegues and explore New York City together. It did not take too long time to realize that they were just perfect for each other. In the midst of a demanding intern year, they became significant support for each other. Whenever there was downtime, they adventured through various speak-easy bars, bicycled in Central Park and danced their night away at karaoke bars in Flushing. At work, they helped each other out with difficult blood draws, had study date-nights and Post-ICU-Stress-Relief-Feasts. As time moved along Tai recognized he was caring for Jihae more than anything. Finally, on October 9th, 2015, he took her to a cozy Italian Restaurant called Bar Corvo in Park Slope, Brooklyn and had made it their official first date as a couple.

... and she said Yes!

More than a year went by while Tai and Jihae moved on to the second year of residency. Throughout their journey, it became abundantly clear that they were just meant-to-be. They traveled and visited Jihae's home in Toronto, and without Jihae knowing, Tai asked her parents for permission to propose to her once returning back to New York City. Tai planned out a surprise proposal that he always dreamed of since his high school years - proposing on the sunset helicopter tour over the Manhattan skyline! He set it up so that Jihae thought they were going to haunted house to for the Halloween weekend. Little did she know, that their ride headed for the heliport and her surprise reaction was caught on video. As soon as she saw the helicopter, she knew it would be the day. After the lovely flight over the city, Tai took out a ring and asked "the most important question" in his life, and she said Yes! Tai also planned a surprise post-proposal party and invited all of their friends to celebrate together afterwards. It was a very long day and night but totally worth every second.
