코치 & 신앙인 토니 베넷

 버지니아(Verginia)와 텍사스 텍(Texas Tech)이 미국 대학농구결승(2019 NCAA Division Man’Basketball championship)에서 맞붙었다. 버지니아 대학이 처음으로 NCAA 토너먼트 타이틀을 차지했다.

 버지니아 대학 헤드 코치 토니 베넷(Anthony Guy Bennett,1969~)이 우승을 차지한 후 모든 공을 선수들에게 돌리면서, 아버지와 아내 그리고 아이들과 함께 기쁨을 나누겠다고 했다. 그리고 마지막으로 하나님께 감사한다고 했다.

 베넷의 인터뷰를 들으며 그가 진실로 하나님을 경외하고 사랑하는 사람이라는 것을 알았다. 경기중 코치하는 모습을 보며, 경기 후 인터뷰를 들으며 뭔가 다른 사람들과 다르다는 걸 분명하게 느낄 수 있었다. 과연 내게는 그런 향기가 있는가.
